    Roots vacuum pump is a rotary varactor vacuum pump. It evolved from the Roots blower. According to the different working range of the roots pump, it is divided into a low-vacuum roots pump with in-line discharge atmosphere; a medium vacuum roots pump (also known as a supercharged pump) and a high-vacuum multi-stage roots pump.

    Roots pumps work similarly to Roots blowers.

    (Internal structure diagram)

    In the pump chamber, two "figure 8" rotors are mounted vertically on a pair of parallel shafts, and a pair of gear belts with a transmission ratio of 1 are actuated in synchronized rotation with each other. Between the rotors, between the rotor and the inner wall of the pump casing, a certain gap is maintained, which can achieve high speed operation.

    (Roots vacuum pump)

    Since the roots pump is a vacuum pump without internal compression, the compression ratio is usually very low, so the high, medium vacuum roots pump needs a backing pump. The ultimate vacuum of the roots pump depends not only on the structure and manufacturing accuracy of the pump itself, but also on the ultimate vacuum of the backing pump. In order to increase the ultimate vacuum of the roots pump, the roots pump can be used in series.

    (Hokaido Roots Pumps)

    Hokaido Roots pumps have the following characteristics:
    1. There is a large pumping speed in a wide pressure range;
    2. Start fast and work immediately;
    3. Insensitive to dust and water vapor contained in the pumped gas;
    4. The rotor does not have to be lubricated, and there is no oil in the pump cavity;
    5. The vibration is small, the rotor dynamic balance condition is better, and there is no exhaust valve;
    6. Small driving power, small mechanical friction loss;
    7. Compact structure, small footprint;
    8. Low operation and maintenance costs.

    Based on the above characteristics, Roots vacuum pumps are widely used in metallurgy, petrochemical, papermaking, food, medicine, textile, electronics industry sectors.
